Comprehensive Victory Away to SMRH

SMRH 105
Edinburgh Academical 106-2

The third Accies 1st XI fixture of season once again saw the team away from home; this time SMRH being the opponents. SMRH having won their first 2 fixtures were sure to prove a stern test. The skipper completed his hat trick of coin toss losses (which is odds of 7:1!) and we were asked to field.

Opening partnership Dibble and Thommo got us off to a perfect start bowling a tight line and length that the opening batsmen found hard to work away. By the end of his spell Dibble had picked up 3 well deserved wickets and Thommo just the 1 despite a top drawer performance with the ball. Replacement bowlers Keano and Ricko picked up where the previous 2 had left off with some tight bowling. SMRH wickets continued to fall with resistance only being offered by young SMRH opening bat Alex Shaw. After Ricko picked up the wickets of Javed (caught 1st slip) and Shaw (lbw), the remaining SMRH wickets fell to Keano and Ricko for the addition of only another 10 runs to the SMRH total. All out for 105 after 38.5 overs can only be described as a good day at the office.

Once again, both opening batsmen (Murden and Big Red) fell cheaply giving the SMRH boys a glimmer of hope with the Accies on 14-2 after 5 overs. Unfortunately for SMRH that was the last thing they had to cheer about as Ricko (who was dropped by SMRH’s Chris Bissett on 0) and Rez set about the SMRH bowling attack. Only another 10 overs were required to reach the 106 total set to win with Ricko unbeaten on 62 and Rez on 24.

A comprehensive victory; hopefully the first of many. Well done Accies 1st XI!
