Friday 16th Decemeber 2005 : Tracing former players.
We are trying to build up a database of former players and 'hangers on' who have graced the hallowed turf at the home of cricket in Edinburgh, 'Raeburn Place'. If you have a connection with the mighty EACC, poss' a former player, reformed drinker or 'supporter' then please get in touch and receive the latest news from the most sociable cricket club in Edinburgh. A trawl of most of the young offender institutes has already found a number former players so get in touch. Contact . The whereabouts of the former 'players ' from seasons 1994-2000 are eagerly sought.

Friday 16th December 2005 : Season 2006 - Cricket in Edinburgh and the rest of the country.
The decision on the league structure was decided at the recent pre-AGM Meeting in Perth (the one in Scotland we're assuming). For further info please click here.

It means that we will be in National Division Two with high hopes of being promoted. Some of the teams which stand in our way are Corstorphine, Dumfries, Edinburgh, Falkland, Freuchie, Perthshire, St Boswells, St Modans, SMRH, Stoneywood-Dyce and Weirs. Some old and new names, but I can tell you're already looking forward to the night out in Aberdeen after the Stoneywood-Dyce game. Apparently Carlisle has a very happening 'club scene', assuming that we can find Dumfries before hand.

Friday 16th December 2005 : More news from Down Under.
Dylan Saunders - Former overseas amateur stalwart, serial womaniser and celebrated after dinner speaker & raconteur. Rumour has it that he may be back in 'Edinburgh' visiting next year. Can't wait......

Steven Spoljaric - The 'talented one' has been in touch by Email advising that he is great as he hits 111 v Prahran in the recent 1st Grade match. Ever the enigmatic genius, he followed up with scores of 8, 16 & 1, including being bowled by a 'Mr Fekete' - how appropriate. Good to see the 'talented one' is in the 'Zone'. (see link on Wednesday 7th December's 'Spoljaric Watch' update below).

Harry Paton - has decided to become the 'unofficial' recruitment officer for EACC whilst down under and is currently tempting a variety of social misfits to come and play at the home of cricket in Edinburgh next season. Everyone is interested to see what you bring back with you Harry.

Wednesday 7th December 2005 : News from 'Down Under'.
EACC has a strong tradition of attracting players (& other social misfits) from 'Oz, so news of various 'Accies' currently in the country that recently lost the Ashes.

David 'Chopper' Law - rumours circulating that he is leaving 'Oz are true. Allegedly he will be leaving this Xmas and will be back in time (or so he claims) to see Liverpool clinch the Premiership title & retain the Champions League. Oh and he may well be back at the Accies for the start of the 2006 season. Numerous umpires have resigned on hearing the news and the Scottish Umpires Association have sought an injunction against Chopper returning to Edinburgh. Watch this space...

Harry Paton - A reliable source has informed us that HP has continued his fine form whilst 'wintering' down under. Under the careful tutelage of S. Spoljaric HP is managing to oversleep for his games in Melbourne. Congrat's on your consistency Harry, true Accie decorum.

Darren 'Herbie' Herbert - Former Pro from 1997 has been in contact and is alive & well, somewhere in NSW (?). A full report on his '1997 Edinburgh Summer of Cricket' and his thoughts of EACC and the Edinburgh 'experience' to follow.

Don Mclay - Legend. He's bad, slightly mad, he's in gainful employment and he's back with another fascinating article about life, the universe and being an Aussie now that Engeeerrrland have regained the Ashes. Expect a biting, satirical and (hopefully this time) humorous account of what life is like after losing the Ashes and having Chopper in close vicinity reminding him over & over & over & over again. Article will be here soon (I'm told).

Wednesday 7th December 2005 : 'Spoljaric Watch'.
Catch up on how the Accies former Pro' - 'the talented one' is performing in the Melbourne big league back home. To see the results connect to the club website southmelb.cricketvictoria.com.au. David 'Youth policy' Black also sends 4 'stunning pictures' of 'the talented one' after his recent sojourn to Melbourne - please see Gallery. Apparently Spolly is the one in red cap & whites and is fielding. Brilliant David, you should be a professional sports photographer.

Wednesday 7th December 2005 : New players always welcome.
The search for new players continues. All abilities and standards welcome, whether to play the occasional social game or if you would like to see how you fare at the competitive national league level, then please contact Shaun McWilliam at .

We are especially keen to hear from fast and deadly quick bowlers, hard hitting (& drinking) batsmen (openers, middle order or rabbits), spin bowlers with more guile & cunning than a fox and wicket keeper / batsmen who are prepared to shout at everyone for 40/50 overs. Social & Serious cricket available at home of cricket in Edinburgh! To all of those who've contacted me recently, many thanks. For those thinking of playing cricket for an extremely sociable club in the centre of Edinburgh, look no further. Go on, you know you want to - contact or 07799 343385.

Friday 2nd December 2005 : Steven Spoljaric - a tribute.

Wednesday 31st August 2005 : Final Match Report.
For the final match report of the season, against West of Scotland, please click here. Possibly one of the finest reports of the season ... including a special report on allegedly the final game for EACC by Steven Spoljaric.

Friday 26th August 2005 : Match Reports.
For the latest in quality cricketing journalism read the most recent Accies 1st XI Match reports v Renfrew, Penicuik & Watsonians. Continuing the previous theme of 'Clint Eastwood' Cricket', unfortunately the performances have been bad & in one case very ugly. If Carlsberg wrote match reports, then Watsonians would 'probably be the best match report in the world......'

Thankfully the 2nd XI seems to be going from strength to strength with 'Baron's Army' on the march will three straight wins. Please see match reports attached; Trinity Academicals, Dalgety Bay & Falkland. The 2nd XI has included some legendary players recently 'tempted' to turn out by the persuasive President. Many could quite easily grace the 1st XI if it wasn't for their current restraining orders being in place. Good to see Mr Geoff Mawdsley, Mr Andrew 'I'm not dead just living in London' Rhodes & a true dual Accies athlete, Mr Brian Hay-Smith turning out for the 2nds. All former player are always welcome. Again, please feel free to read all of the reports and if you have any comments, please contact us on the website details noted.

Wednesday 3rd August 2005 : Match reports v SMRH, Prestwick & Weirs.
Read the most recent Accies 1st Team Match reports v SMRH, Prestwick & Weirs. Some of the performances have been described by cricket aficionados as 'Clint Eastwood' Cricket - Good, Bad and (in some cases very) Ugly. For a selection of photos taken on 30th July 2005 at the Weirs match please click here and scroll down. Please feel free to read the various reports and if you have any comments, please contact us on the website details noted.

If you haven't already been down to the club or played for us yet, then please try and make the effort. Hopefully you won't be disappointed. Players of all standards & abilities are always welcome - please feel free to contact for more information. Edinburgh Academicals 1st XI currently play in the Scottish National Cricket League - South Division and the 2nd XI in the East of Scotland League - 5th Division.

Life after Accies Down Under : Ever wondered what happened to ex-Accies who left Edinburgh in search of a clean living. Hoping to erase the memories of Gay Nigerians, Moff perving on his Mum's friends, South African dummy spitting and Chopper's weekly spiking of umpires and their immediate family ? If so please click here.

Monday 4th July 2005 : EACC Win by 79 !
At last EACC got back to form and did a convincing job on Corstorphine at Fortress Raeburn. Accies ran up a total of 247 for 9 in our 50 overs. Corstorphine ground to a halt and were all out for 168 in the 50th over. Please click here for the full match report.

Tuesday 21st June 2005 : Edinburgh Academicals 1st XI currently play in the Scottish National Cricket League - South Division and the 2nd XI in the East of Scotland League - 5th Division.
