Private Coaching Sessions

Dan Rixon, the Accies overseas professional for 2011 is available for private coaching sessions. Dan holds a Level 2 Cricket Australia coaching qualification (equivalent to a UKCC Level 3) and a degree in Physical Education. Dan has played Sydney first grade for 8 years for Sutherland Cricket Club and has represented New South Wales at U17, U19 and colts levels. He has been the assistant director of Westfields Sports High School cricket Academy for 4 years and has extensive experience of coaching elite youth squads. Cricket Scotland Ticket Offer

Cricket Scotland are running a ticket offer for this summers games including the ODI tri-nations games against Ireland and World Cup finalists Sri Lanka.

Season tickets are available for £45 for students / juniors and £75 for adults. Cup Fixtures

The draw for the 2011 cups involving Accies have been made. In the Scottish Cup first round, the Accies 1st XI face Galashiels away on Sunday 8th May. In the 1st round of the Masterton, Accies will be hoping to avenge last years defeat when they travel to Livingston in the 1st round on Thursday 12th May.

For the 2nd XI, in the President's Trophy, Accies face division 8 side Teuchters at Leith Academy on the 8th May. In the President's Plate, Accies have been drawn against Boroughmuir 2nd XI. A date for this game hasn't been set yet but watch this space.

Gordon Reisima signs as Overseas Amateur

Edinburgh Accies are delighted to announce that Gordon Reisima is joining the club as the overseas amateur for the 2011 season. Gordon is a top order batsman and medium pacer currently playing for Wairarapa in the Hawke Cup competition in New Zealand. Gordon also holds a NZC Coaching A Team Coaching qualification.

Dan Rixon signs as Overseas Pro

Edinburgh Accies are pleased to announce that we have secured the services of Daniel Rixon as pro for the 2011 season. Dan Rixon (25, son of former New South Wales, Surrey and New Zealand coach Steve Rixon) is a keeper batsman who plays in the Sydney Grade Competition for Sutherland. Dan has previously represented New South Wales at Under-17 and 19 levels and is involved with the New South Wales Institute of Sport.

In his previous visit to the UK in 2008, Dan played for Surrey County League side Merrow. He dominated league, topping the run-charts hitting 881 runs at 62.93 including three hundreds. Dan is also an experienced coach and holder of a Cricket Australia level 2 badge. We are sure his talent and experience will rub off on both senior and junior members of the club.

Club Social on 28th May

There will be a club social on Saturday the 28th May following that days league fixtures. This coincides with the 1st XI playing their first home game of the season as Stenhousemuir, who will include the Sri Lankan test batsman Malinda Warnapura in their side, are welcomed to Newfield. The 2nd XI face a local derby against Holy Cross at Arboretum. Put the date in your diary and watch this space for more details.

Winter nets

Winter nets are being held at Westwoods on Crewe Road South (EH4 1RA) every Sunday between 12 and 2pm. There is a small charge of £4 per session to cover costs.
