Welcome to the Edinburgh Academicals Cricket Club website. Founded in 1855, we are a club with over 150 years of cricketing history. We currently have 2 senior teams, who play in the East Leagues Divisions 1 and 5, as well as U15 and U13 sides and a Kwik cricket morning for those aged 6 - 11. We always welcome new members to our club, and if you are interested in playing for "Accies" drop us a line. Contact Nick Murden for the senior sides and Mike Thomson for junior sides. We hope to see you down at Accies soon - Charles Robertson: Club President.
Please note for seasons 2008 (and probably 2009), "Accies" will be moving from its spiritual home at Raeburn Place, and will now be playing at the Edinburgh Academy's home ground at Newfield. All home fixtures and training will be at Newfield for the next two seasons, whilst Raeburn Place is being redeveloped. |

News Section:
Season starts....
Good luck to both teams in their quest to gain promotion from their respective leagues. A warm welcome to all the new players who have appeared, including all of the players who turned up at indoor training. The 1st XI is being led this year by a new team of Nick Murden as captain and Kean Woodmansey as vice-captain. It is hoped that this Yorkshire pairing will bring us the success we missed last year. The 2nd XI will be led by the co-operative that is Dave “The Stallion” Black, Simon Cavaliere, Marcus Stewart, Ken Thomson and Mauritz van Wijk
Overseas players 2008
We have returned to the selection of antipodeans as our overseas players for the coming year. Michael Raso (27) from Cairns, Queensland, who has previously enjoyed success in Hampshire and Yorkshire, will play for the 1st XI. Matthew Williamson (35) from Brisbane, Australia, a playing colleague of a former overseas amateur, Chris Schmid for the Redland Tigers in Brisbane, will play for the 2nd XI primarily. It is hoped that both will bring much needed stability to the batting orders.
Player news:
We are glad this year to welcome back Dave “Chopper” Law back from Australia. Many Scottish umpires have gone into immediate retirement at this prospect, but we are delighted to welcome back Chopper into the ranks and it is hoped that he will take many wickets for us this summer.
The club also welcomes Phil Taylor, an all rounder from Boroughmuir. Phil is originally a Geordie but has spent a number of years in Yorkshire and Edinburgh. Highest score is 180.
New Season:
There will be a club warm up day on Saturday 19th April at Newfield. We'll be mixing up both senior teams and visiting our club sponser, The Standard, in the evening.
